I am so bad at getting great things CHES is doing up on our blog. Below are pictures of our 2nd Grade Leaders. They collected mittens and hats for students in our school and community. Here are pictures of some of our 2nd Grade Leaders. Thank you to our Photography Club, aka "Paparazzi Club" for composing these pictures for our blog.

Santa and the Elves Use the 7 Habits - and a Smartboard FREEBIE
Our first grade has been learning how Santa and the Elves use the 7 Habits. They began with an Elf Bubble Map of all the Habits. They brainstormed as a class as to how Santa and the Elves used the 7 Habits. You can see Mrs. Wilson's class's response below. Click HERE to get a blank Smarboard Template of this.
Then first grade used the super cute template from firstgradeblueskies for their elves. They used the rubric below to write about what habit they are good at that would make them a good elf. The kids did a great job!!!!!! And so did the teachers!!!!!! Click the Rubric to get it.

STLP Leaders SHINE!!!!
Thirteen Country Heights students attended the Fall STLP Showcase
at WKU on December 6, 2012. The leadership skills of these students were
shining as they presented “The Huskies Learn the 7 Habits” project to the
judges and other STLP students and sponsors from the region. We are proud of all of you!!!!

If you are a teacher viewing this we would love your comments. Does your school have an STLP? What things do they do? We are always wanting to learn from others. We would love to post things you do as well especially if it connects to the 7 Habits.

Trees, Trees, and More Trees. Thank you Recycle Club Leaders!!!
Mrs. Klee is one of our resource teachers at CHES. She has taken the leadership role of sponsoring our Recycle Club. These kids have really embraced their roles as leaders in our school. Their primary responsibility has been to collect our recyclables each Thursday, sort them, and get them ready for pick up. They synergize and to get the job done efficiently and effectively. They show they use the 7 Habits by setting goals, thinking win-win, being proactive, etc. However, they really took their role a step further by beginning with the end in mind. They decided that our running track needed trees for our students. It's gets really hot in at the beginning of school and in the spring. The recycle club wanted shade for all the kids. They set a goal to get trees. They wrote a letter to our community asking different tree farms and nurseries to donate trees for our students. We were so happy when Hilltop Tree Farm helped us reach our goal. They donated many trees. Below is the letter they wrote, the plan for the trees, and the map of how they wanted the trees to be planted. If it weren't for these student leaders and Mrs. Klee, we would never have gotten these trees. They really are taking responsibility for our school!!!!! Thank you!!! We are proud of you!

| I'm sorry the letter is side-ways. Technology is not cooperating with me. I can't figure out how to flip it. I tried to flip but it won't save it. |

Our Leadership Clubs are Outstanding!!!!!
We have a wonderful photography club. They take pictures of events in our school, document our progress with the Leader in Me and have now taken pictures of our environment to practice their photography skills. Some are pictures of different activities that are in our intermediate hall. Here are 2 of our photography club members. We will continue to showcase more of the photography club members.

These banners are given to homeroom classes each Monday during our morning assembly. In order to earn a banner, a class has to show leadership by exhibiting their best behavior, using good manners, and doing the right even no one is looking. Some classes earn more that one banner in a week!!!!!!!
